The rumors are officially over.
Rocsi Diaz appears to have taken the relationship with actor and comedian Anthony Anderson from whispered Hollywood speculation to full-on Instagram confirmation—and she did it with a little flavor.
As Anderson takes over hosting duties on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week, Diaz celebrated her man with a series of photos and a message that left very little to the imagination:
“Big Birthday Week Leo Energy @anthonyanderson my Papi Chulo is Hosting @jimmykimmellive all week. Tune in.”
Yep. Papi Chulo.
And just like that, Rocsi has entered the chat.
The former 106 & Park host and Anderson have been linked since earlier this year, but both have suggested that their connection is hardly new. Anderson has said the two have known each other for many years and shared a circle of friends before the timing finally seemed right for something more.
Anderson previously acknowledged Diaz as “his lady” during an appearance on The View, later explaining during an interview with Angie Martinez that the relationship simply developed naturally.
According to Anderson, the two weren’t plotting some Hollywood romance. Life just put them in the same place at the right time.
That may be one of the more interesting parts of this relationship. These aren’t two strangers who met at a Hollywood party and suddenly became a headline. They’ve reportedly known each other for years, watched their careers evolve and eventually found themselves at a different point in life.
Anderson has also admitted that he had to learn how to create more room for his personal life instead of allowing his career to consume everything.
Now, that personal life appears to have a pretty special place in it for Rocsi.
And Diaz’s public declaration is significant because she has generally kept her romantic life relatively private. Her decision to post Anderson during his Kimmel hosting run gives fans a glimpse of a relationship that has quietly been developing behind the scenes.
There’s also something undeniably refreshing about seeing two accomplished Black entertainers finding love later in life without turning their relationship into a circus.
No forced rollout. No reality-show storyline. No overproduced announcement.
Just Rocsi calling her man “Papi Chulo” and telling everybody to tune in.
Meanwhile, Anderson is getting his own late-night spotlight, guest-hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! while Kimmel is on summer break. His guest lineup includes NBA star Jaylen Brown and Rep. Jasmine Crockett.
For Rocsi, though, the biggest headline may not be the hosting gig.
It may simply be that she finally let the world know:
That’s her man.
And judging by the “Papi Chulo” shout-out, she’s clearly enjoying every minute of it.
