Muni Long is stepping off the big stage. The R&B hitmaker announced she’s pulling out of Monica and Brandy’s blockbuster The Boy Is Mine Tour, citing ongoing health struggles that have shadowed her throughout the run.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Long laid it out plainly for fans: the show can’t go on — at least, not for her.
“As many of you know, I’ve been battling some health issues throughout The Boy Is Mine Tour,” she wrote. “Despite doing everything I can to push through, my doctors have made it clear that it’s not safe for me to continue with the remaining dates. I’ll truly miss seeing you all out there… Thank you to Brandy and Monica for having me and sharing the stage with me. I can’t wait to see you all again. Stronger than ever.”

It’s the latest chapter in what’s been a rough stretch for Long, who previously revealed a lupus diagnosis. Back in October, during the Chicago stop, she was forced to sit out after a bout of pneumonia — prompting R&B veteran Mya to slide in as a last-minute replacement. Mya later called the moment “a pleasure,” sending Long her love and “best wishes for a speedy recovery.”

Tour organizers also released a statement praising Long’s run and backing her decision to put her health first. “Muni has been phenomenal throughout this tour. Her voice, her presence, and her energy brought something truly unforgettable to every city we visited… Please join us in sending Muni love, strength, and healing energy as she recovers.”

The tour itself has been a juggernaut, with the Black Promoters Collective reportedly pushing toward a massive $100 million in projected sales off fan demand alone. While nothing’s been confirmed, rumors are already swirling that Mya — who’s proven she can heat up the stage on short notice — may be the one to officially step into Long’s spot.

For now, Muni Long is stepping back, regrouping, and letting her body rest — but if her message is any indication, she’s far from done.
