GRAND RAPIDS, MI — The Mid-Western Region of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. will host its annual Ohio and Michigan Area Work Day Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan, uniting more than 500 mothers and teens for a weekend dedicated to leadership development, community impact, and the power of service.

This year’s conference, themed “The Power of Love, Leadership, and a Legacy of Service,” will take place at the Amway Grand Plaza – Curio Collection by Hilton, located at 187 Monroe NW, Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The three-day gathering will feature a series of dynamic workshops and service activities, including:

  • Teen Leadership Workshops focused on civic engagement, public speaking, and personal growth.

  • Mother Workshops designed to strengthen chapter operations and regional collaboration.

  • A heartfelt Community Service Initiative led by teens to support families with newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.

On Friday, November 14, at 6:30 p.m., teens will assemble care bags filled with comfort items and essentials for NICU families — a project inspired by empathy, compassion, and the organization’s ongoing commitment to community service.

“As a mother who has experienced the NICU journey firsthand, I know how isolating and overwhelming it can be,” said Jennifer McCormick Bridgewater, member of the Greater Grand Rapids Chapter and Mid-Western Region Foundation Member-At-Large. “These care bags are more than just supplies; they’re a lifeline of love and encouragement for families who need to know they’re not alone.”

The initiative underscores Jack and Jill of America’s mission to nurture future African American leaders through service, leadership, and family engagement while giving back to the communities they serve.
